Purpose & strategy: Anyone reckoning with complexity should rely on purpose!
Organisations need direction. It creates clarity as to where development should go and what contributions and effects the company wants to achieve. The greater the complexity with which the organisation is confronted, the more important this direction becomes. Orientation and prioritisation then becomes a permanent task.
One essential element of this is purpose. The clearly formulated WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE serves as a central guideline for decisions and facilitates distributed authority and agile working. Another element is strategy – it specifies how the purpose is realised, which priorities the company sets and how it positions itself in its environment – constantly anew. The essential art is not just to clarify strategic content, but to create a process for ongoing effective strategy work – strategising.
